Port St. Lucie requires a Residential Fence Permit from the Building Department before installing a fence; the applicant must certify compliance with City Codes 158.216, 158.203, and 158.204 and sign an affidavit accepting responsibility for compliance. No residential fence may exceed 6 feet from ground level. Fences on single-family zoned property must sit at least 25 feet from the front-yard property line (or even with the outside front corners of the building, whichever is greater), and at least 25 feet from the rear-yard property line where it abuts a public right-of-way. Decorative fencing used as landscape material between the front building line and front property line is capped at 4 feet, with a 2-foot break required every 20 feet. Pool barrier fences must be 4 to 6 feet tall. Fences in a utility or drainage easement must be constructed to be easily removable.
