Shed Installation Permits in Bridgeport
Local Rule
City of Bridgeport Building Department; Connecticut State Building Code Section 105.2
Bridgeport exempts a one-story detached accessory structure used as a tool or storage shed, playhouse, or similar use from a building permit when the floor area is not greater than 200 square feet, per the city's own Work Exempt from Building Permits page, taken directly from the Connecticut State Building Code. Fences, other than swimming pool barriers, not over 7 feet high are also exempt, as are retaining walls not higher than 3 feet. Even where a building permit is not required, permits from other city departments may still be necessary, and the property must still comply with all zoning requirements. Bridgeport is an independent city with no surrounding county under Connecticut's local government structure.
