Victorville administers building permits under the statewide California Building Code, which exempts a one-story detached accessory structure used as a tool or storage shed from a building permit when the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet and the structure has no electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems. The Building Official, appointed by the City Manager, has final authority over building, safety, and fire-related code enforcement issues under the Victorville Development Code. Decisions of the Building Official may be appealed to the Planning Commission.
