A permit is not required for a one-story detached accessory building used as a tool or storage shed, playhouse, or similar use in Anaheim, provided the area does not exceed 120 square feet and the height is under 8 feet, with no mechanical, electrical, or plumbing work, per the city's own permit guidance handout; confirmation with Planning and Zoning is still recommended to ensure the proposal meets zoning regulations. Wood fences not over 6 feet in height and masonry fences not over 36 inches in height are separately exempt. Platforms, walks, and driveways not more than 30 inches above grade are also exempt.
