Akron maintains its own dedicated Title 19, Chapter 197, Article 1, Swimming Pools, as a standalone chapter. A real distinctive sequencing rule from the city's own code: before applying to Akron's own Superintendent for a pool permit, the applicant must first obtain and file certified copies of approval from every OTHER city, county and state authority having jurisdiction over the pool, making the city permit the final rather than the first step. Separately, Summit County itself no longer issues its own pool permits at all in the areas it still administers, though an electrical permit may still be required there.
