Local Rule

City of Colorado Springs Planning and Development; Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (PPRBD) adopted code; Unified Development Code (UDC) Subsection 7.3.304

For accessory structures less than 200 square feet, no building permit is required through the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, per the city's own Residential Accessory Structures page; property owners must still meet the property's dimensional zoning standards, including setbacks and lot coverage. Accessory structures 125 square feet or larger require zoning approval even when they don't need a building permit. The gross floor area of an accessory structure may not exceed that of the primary structure, and accessory structures are not permitted in front yards unless specified in the UDC.
