Las Vegas and Henderson jointly adopted Appendix Q of the 2021 IRC as a local amendment, and it requires a permit for every fence, wall, or retaining wall within city limits, with no height exemption; a separate permit is needed for each parcel, though one permit can cover multiple fences built along property lines as part of a single subdivision. Height and location still have to meet the zoning code and any applicable utility easement rules. A solid wall within the front-yard setback is capped at 2 feet, per the city's own fence and wall permit application; iron and CMU block combination walls are common in the city's preferred styles.
