Miramar requires a building permit for a fence of any material, regardless of height; the application must describe the fence type and height, and a Homeowners' Association Affidavit of Awareness is required even outside a formal HOA. An owner-builder applying for a residential permit needs photo ID matching the work address, proof of ownership, and Homestead Exemption verification; a Notice of Commencement is required once project value exceeds $5,000. Precast and reinforced masonry fences get inspections based on the approved plans, and all commercial and community fences need a Fire Marshal inspection. Under Land Development Code Section 22.141(c), a fence is one of the accepted ways to provide the required safety barrier around a swimming pool, enclosing the pool or the entire premises to prevent unrestrained access.
